What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
I’d tried a class in the U.S and loved the energy and pace of the class. It was also a great way for me to make friends whilst getting fit at the same time!
What was your first impression? How has that changed?
My first impression was ‘I am never going to survive this’. It was certainly a shock to the system since I hadn’t really done any exercise for about 2 years. In my first month I didn’t think I would ever make it through a complete workout! Since then I’ve noticed a great improvement in my own determination, focus and resilience. I love the structure of the workouts, the coaches feedback and their energy and now I KNOW I can finish a workout.
What was your first highlight?
My first highlight was doing 10 beat swings for the first time!
What are you working on improving now in CrossFit?
At the moment I’m working on improving my flexibility and upper body strength. This is something I’ve noticed needs a lot of work and is quite evident when I’m doing exercises on the rig. Things like beat swings, chin ups, pull ups etc.
What is your favorite CrossFit Westmount memory?
My favourite memory happened just before Christmas 2019. For the first time in the 4 months since I’d joined I finished the WOD within the time cap! It might seem easy to most, but this was a big day and really demonstrated the progress I had made along my fitness journey.
