What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
I was introduced to CrossFit by my old roommate, Pierre. My original view of the sport was admittedly a little stereotypical and ignorant, but Pierre seemed to really enjoy it so I decided to give it a shot. Zero Regrets.
What was your first impression? How has that changed?
The first time I walked in, I knew this was not your typical gym. In my past experiences, the atmosphere in a gym feels kind of like walking into a peacock competition. Everyone is all puffed chests and “better-than-you” attitudes. Not so at CrossFit Westmount. Here, everyone says hi, everyone is friendly and encourages each other to do their best. There’s no judgement. The only obstacle left is yourself. Tom, Andy and the CFW team take care of the rest.
What was your first highlight?
How much I actually enjoyed going. I was never able to go to a gym steadily before in my life. It always felt so monotonous and boring. At CFW, the workouts are tough, but fun and always changing. Even when I’m tired, I can’t help but feel excited for every class!
What are you working on improving now in CrossFit?
Originally I wanted to work on strength and cardio to help me with my Ultimate Frisbee. Now that I have that down, I’m concentrating more on the gymnastics aspect, trying to get that Ring Muscle-Up and Toes-to-bar.
What is your favorite CrossFit Westmount memory?
Has to be the Holiday Party: ugly sweaters, Personal Records, fun games and good company!
