What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?

The gym in the basement of the building where I work closed. It was a toss-up between CrossFit Westmount (close to home) and Énergie Cardio (close to work).

What was your first impression?  How has that changed?

CrossFit was an eye-opening experience. After my first CrossFit session, my legs were shaking so hard I could barely walk home. CrossFit remains an incredible experience. Every WOD allows you to learn something new. Every WOD is a challenge. Not to mention perfecting all of the technical aspects involved in the gymnastic movements.

What was your first highlight?

How to choose? There are so many with CrossFit training. The first successful strict pull-up was exhilarating since I could not initially get anywhere near the bar, and had a never-in-a-million-years mindset for pull-ups.

What are you working on improving now in CrossFit?

Currently working on trying to maintain proper pacing during a WOD to avoid tapping out too soon. Would also eventually love to be able to do a handstand walk. There is always room for improvement.

What is your favorite CrossFit Westmount memory?

Signing up for the 2017 Open.  It’s a fantastic challenge. Whether RX’d or scaled, getting through these workouts gives you a great sense of accomplishment and allows you to test your limits. The workouts also give you a clear picture of what you should be working on in the coming year and are a lesson on how to manage your nerves.
