What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?

After 3 years of climbing I thought that structured workouts would help me progress. I tried rowing, TRX and bootcamp classes for one year and then I heard about CrossFit. I always enjoyed individual sports more than team sports (even for my brain, says the mathematician inside me :D), however at some point I wanted to add more group training into the mix. I realized CrossFit could give me both the strength and the joy of doing exercise with a group of people.

What was your first impression?  How has that changed?

The thought of going to a CrossFit gym might be a bit intimidating. I should say that at least in CFW I never had this impression, even once. Everybody is friendly and coaches are encouraging.  Here I got what I expected and even more. CrossFit gave me a sense of being in a motivating family.

What was your first highlight?

One thing that I consider as everyday highlights in CFW is how members are free to share their stories to each other and how morally supportive the members are towards each other.

As for the workouts, I would say my first Rope climb. I was not sure how it would go, but I did it and I was so excited about it.

What are you working on improving now in CrossFit?

Right now, I am focused on improving my weightlifting techniques. I am looking forward to doing a proper Snatch. My dream is to master the hand stand walk so that I can do it on a hiking trail.

What is your favorite CrossFit Westmount memory?

Participating in Cedars Lift n’ Move. Beside the cause of the event which was emotionally touching, seeing members moving and cheering each other up was inspiring.
